Founder, Tsara Tea Estate
In 1929, Our Grandfather Don Carenelis De Silva transformed a hillside in Sri Lanka’s southern highlands into a small tea factory. He introduced careful hand-plucking, traditional manufacture, and a people-first culture that treated workers like family. His legacy became the heart of what is now Tsara Tea.
Second-Generation Steward
Dedicated 65 years to building our tea business. He began at just 17 years old, after the sudden passing of his father, and through hard work and resilience transformed a small family estate into a thriving tea enterprise. He was known for his generosity, humility, and the family atmosphere he created.
